Gal4TSync | Galileo Time Receiver as a Reference Time Source in a Telecommunications Network

The Gal4TSync (Galileo Timing receiver for critical infrastructure synchronization) project is an initiative that focuses on supporting critical infrastructure sectors by increasing synchronization and time measurement capabilities in telecommunications, energy and financial infrastructure, where user requirements stem primarily from the need to provide resilient, reliable and accurate timing services.

As part of the initiative, the project will develop a Galileo time receiver that meets the requirements of the CEN/CENELEC EN 16605:2024 standard. By design, this receiver will use the timing service messages provided by Galileo, operating exclusively as a Galileo time receiver or as a combined Galileo + GPS time receiver. It will be used in telecommunications service applications and demonstrated as a reference time source in the telecommunications network.

The main objective of the project is to align with the emerging standardisation of time receivers and create a commercially viable Galileo time receiver in accordance with EN 16605:2024.

The project will be implemented by two partners: RECTANGLE (Leader) and EXATEL (Consortium Partner).

The value of eligible costs of the project is: EUR 1,231,661.65, including EUR 162,372.50 of eligible costs on the part of Exatel.

The value of the project co-financing is: EUR 862,163.16, including EUR 113,660.75 of co-financing on the part of Exatel.

Project implementation period: 1.09.2025 – 31.08.2027 (24 months).

The project is co-financed by the European Union.
