The National Centre for Research and Development has announced its decision to grant funding for the project called ‘CriNet, Critical Network SDN Security System for Critical Infrastructure’ aiming for the defense and security of the State. The total budget of the project is nearly PLN 36 million!
‘Our plans were recognized by the experts and we achieved one of the best results in the competition. At the same time, we know that we are participating in a project that is about more than just technological innovation – here we have the two strategic state-owned companies uniting their efforts to raise the security of critical infrastructure, this time with the help of Polish solutions and Polish engineering ideas. After all, having our own proven solutions is extremely important, especially in the context of changing geopolitical conditions. The result of the project will essentially strengthen the security of the infrastructure that is crucial to the functioning of the state, society and the economy’ – Rafal Magryś, the Vice President of EXATEL
The project aims for the creation of a new Polish cybersecurity technology for industrial systems, which will enable better, faster, and more precise management of ICT network resources. The solution will help identify a potential attack, see and understand its scope, and take defensive measures that are more effective than the currently available technologies.
We will also build IT systems and devices, based on software-defined networking (SDN) technology. The platform will be applied to the requirements of the end user, who knows the critical infrastructure security issues inside and out. Due to the scale of the challenge, we will rely on the analytical expertise and research laboratory of the third consortium partner, which is Rzeszow University of Technology.
‘Our developers and field specialists value the fact that their work directly translates into the security of social and economic life in Poland and that we not only face interesting projects and intellectual challenges, but also participate in the mission. We are also proud of our consortium partners’ trust. EXATEL is demonstrating the effectiveness of its efforts to integrate economic life and the creative work of the scientific community, which truly builds a knowledge-based economy’ – Teodor Buchner, Ph.D., EXATEL R&D project expert and CriNet project manager.
