Tomorrow, i.e., September 4, marks the start of two large events – the Economic Forum in Krynica and the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce. The first one is a meeting for politicians and businesspeople not only from Poland, but also from all over Europe. In contrast, the trade fair in Kielce is a place where experts, manufacturers and exhibitors associated with the defence industry hold talks. Naturally, EXATEL will be present at both of the above.

Economic Forum in Krynica

Our experts will participate in several discussions during this year’s edition – two of which are of particular siginficance. The first one focuses on innovation and its impact on the Polish economy. This topic is particularly close to EXATEL in the perspective of the R&D projects we implement, such as SDNbox or TAMA. The second subject is associated with cybersecurity, which is one of our main specializations.

#1 Innovations

At 7:45 p.m. the first day, a plenary session will begin with the participation of EXATEL’s President of the Management Board – Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski. The subject matter of the panel is “How to effectively build an innovative economy – experiences – inspirations – strategies”. The further growth of Polish economy depends on its increased innovation and the “added value” created by companies. While Poland’s economy is becoming more and more innovative, it requires involvement by both state and state-owned companies. Our enterprises should exhibit greater ambitions in terms of innovation and in going beyond the internal market. Can the Polish economy become even more innovative in a short time? Should it draw inspirations from other countries or focus on developing its own model? How far behind global leaders are we? Maybe we have already achieved this status in certain industries? These questions will be answered by the participants, namely:

  • Jerzy Kwieciński – Minister of Investment and Development,
  • Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski – President of the Board at EXATEL,
  • Dominika Bettman – President of the Board at Siemens Sp. z o.o.
  • Piotr Ciski, Sage Sp. z o.o. President,
  • Tomasz Czechowicz – founder and CEO at MCI Capital S.A.,
  • Wiktor Janicki, CEO at Roche Polska Sp. z o.o.,
  • Krzysztof Krawczyk – managing partner at CVC Capital Partners.

The plenary session will be moderated by Bogusław Chrabota – editor-in-chief of the Rzeczpospolita daily. The special guest of the discussion will be Hermann Simon – founder of Simon-Kucher & Partners.

When: 4 September 2018, 18:45 – 20:00.

Where: Main pump-room.

#2 – cybersecurity

On the third day, during the Security Forum, Marcin Malicki – Vice-President of the Management Board at EXATEL will participate in a discussion “Cybersecurity – education and promoting appropriate behaviour in companies and institutions”. The issue of ensuring cybernetic security is becoming a key issue in the potent operation of companies and institutions – a significant part of whose activities take place in cyberspace. The competitiveness of modern economy is largely based on effective and efficient operation in virtual space, which is why education in this regard is so important. How to improve knowledge on cybersecurity among the employees and users? Where to look for good solutions and models? These questions will be answered by:

  • Felix Barrio – director for cybersecurity, research and development work and talent management at the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute,
  • Biljana Cerin – Member of the Board at (ISC)2,
  • Andreas Haggman – Cybersecurity expert at the Royal Holloway University of London,
  • Aleksey Yankovskyy – President of ISACA Kyiv Chapter in Ukraine,
  • Marcin Malicki – Vice-President of the Board at EXATEL,
  • Maciej Masłowski – Polish MP.

The discussion will be moderated by Krzysztof Liedel – director of the Centre for Research on Terrorism at Collegium Civitas. The special guest will be Predrag Tasevski – founder of IGF MK.

When: 6 September 2018, 10:40 – 11:55.

Where: Old Cure House, 1st floor.
