EXATEL and Chunghwa Telecom signed a cooperation agreement on July 27th at the EXATEL office in Warsaw. The signatories of the agreement were Shui-Yi Kuo, Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom and Richard Chen, President of the International Business Group Chunghwa Telecom, along with Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski, President of the Management Board, CEO, EXATEL and Rafał Magryś, Vice President of the Management Board, CTO, EXATEL.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was attended by Minister Ming-Hsin Kung from the National Development Council of Taiwan, Minister Maciej Małecki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets of the Republic of Poland, Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland and Ambassador Bob Chen from Taipei Representative Office in Poland.
The MoU with Chunghwa Telecom, a Taiwanese integrated telecommunications service provider, opens doors for EXATEL to enter the Asian market and expand internationally. The choice of CHT as a business partner in Asia was natural due to the company’s extensive experience in telecommunications and cybersecurity. Chunghwa Telecom is the largest telecom in Taiwan and a leader in 5G technology, which is in increasing demand in Poland. CHT also recognizes the need to provide its customers with secure communication between Asia and Europe, an area in which EXATEL can assist. A significant aspect of the cooperation will be the exchange of knowledge between both parties in cybersecurity, research and development (R&D) projects, and SDN technology development.
The collaboration with Chunghwa Telecom is not a coincidence. CHT, like EXATEL, is a strategic operator, concerned with issues of cyber sovereignty and constantly striving to enhance the security of its services. The partnership will be based on the exchange of knowledge and experiences of both sides. While EXATEL and CHT both operate in the communications field, they are not doing exactly the same things, which provides ample opportunity for cooperation. EXATEL’s solutions, especially in the area of cybersecurity (TAMA PRO7) and SDN, have attracted interest from our partners, creating space for further cooperation in the development of these solutions – said Rafał Magryś, Vice President of the Management Board, CTO, EXATEL.
Apart from the MoU, EXATEL also signed a Master Telecommunication Services Agreement (MTSA) with Chunghwa Telecom. This framework agreement defines the general principles of cooperation in delivering Ethernet Leased Lines (IPLC) and IPVPN telecommunications services for CHT and EXATEL’s clients, as well as mutual IP peering and transit for internet traffic exchange. This agreement enables the commencement of full commercial cooperation between the parties.
