On Wednesday, May 18, the building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Sciences at Koszykowa Street will host workshops on the development of 5G infrastructure. These will be conducted within the EU’s 5G-PPP infrastructure – which is party of the Horizon 2020 program.
In the course of the workshop, the Director of the Network Planning and Architecture Office at Exatel, Michał Szczęsny, will talk about the Radio technologies for 5G using Advanced Photonic Infrastructure for dense user environment—RAPID project initiated by the European Commission and Japan’s NICT (National Institute of Information and Communications Technology) of which Exatel is the sole member among Polish operators.
Within the RAPID project, a team of scientific and research companies and institutions from Europe and Japan is working on basic technical aspects defining 5G technology, while developing a test environment that would enable verifying the assumed concepts in reality (a stadium in Osaka and a shopping centre in Warsaw).
During the workshop, Michał Szczęsny will familiarize participants with the key assumptions of the project and the concept of using two advanced test/experimental environments.
The organizers of the 5G PPP workshops are: The European Commission, DG CONNECT and 5G-Infrastructure Association.
