The 9th TIME Economic Forum was held in early March. EXATEL was its partner. The conference was organized by the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications (KIGEiT) and the Polish Chamber for Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT). The theme of this year’s edition was artificial intelligence. According to the Invitees, its rapid development will lead to even greater impact of the digital sector on innovation within the entire industry and infrastructure.
Access to the web is not a need, but a standard
The first debate titled “Broadband networks – innovation infrastructure of the era 4.0” was participated by representatives of all the most important stationary and cell-phone operators. The experts agreed that wondering if universal 1 Gb/s access is needed was pointless. This need is obvious. Connecting each property is an operator’s license obligation, without discussing its profitability. It is essential to launch similar mechanisms in relation to the broadband network that would enable the quickest possible construction of a 5G – 1 Gb/s network:
– 5G technologies are necessary. At the beginning, a lot was said of how large bandwidths are not necessary, and then the digital reality kickeds in and brings a great leap entailing great demand – said the President of EXATEL S.A., Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski.
Cybersecurity and the economy
Another discussion focused on cybersecurity. It was participated by the Vice-president of EXATEL S.A., Rafał Magryś Experts therein pointed out that the number of attacks was growing and their economic consequences were becoming more severe. Cybercriminals are better trained, they warned, so standard solutions are not enough to defend ourselves. The digital space is an area where the state of security will deteriorate without continuous qualification improvement. Moreover, impunity may lead to the formation of a cybermafia, the strength and scale of which we are yet to imagine.
