On Thursday, 6 April, we participated in the European CyberSec Forum. This is an important event devoted to the issues of Polish cybersecurity. It is also a dialogue platform for the most influential state institutions.
President Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski participated in the opening discussion panel, which concerned Polish cybersecurity strategy and its practical implementation conditions. In his speech, he focused on the concept of cybersovereignty and its six pillars, namely, own infrastructure, personnel, data protection, public e-services, cybersecurity and the national IT sector. In this perspective he pointed to the particular position of our state-owned company as an important cybersecurity tool in the hands of the government.
Mobile SOC-Lab
Apart from the presentation, our mobile security centre (SOC-Lab) drew the vivid attention of CyberSec participants. This was used by specialists from EXATEL SOC (Security Operations Center) to give a live presentation of how most cyberattacks worked in practice. Through the demonstration, it was possible, step by step, to see what a ransomware infection looked like, how data from a computer can be stolen through a fake invoice and how to infect a computer with a code hidden in a .doc document. Every attack was shown from three perspectives – the victim, the cybercriminal and the professional security system team. Of course, we used “disarmed” viruses and fake accounts during the presentation, but we always take scenarios from real life.
