During the conference of the National Chamber of Ethernet Communications (KIKE), our representatives participated in discussions that were extremely important for the industry. The panel on cybersecurity-related needs and expectations of operators was led by Jakub Syta – Director of the Security Services Management Office at Exatel.
Telecommunications operators are burdened with a particular obligation to ensure the security of their infrastructure and client resources. Indeed, cybercriminals are increasingly active in their attacks on crucial ICT systems from such industries as telecommunications, security, finances and healthcare, which are particularly vulnerable. The recent wave of ransomware attacks has shown the significance of protecting resources important to the State and its citizens.
The State cybersecurity strategy is only under development. Therefore, telecommunications market participants must take a large portion of the responsibility for protecting cyberspace. That is why defence readiness is so important. It depends on several factors – among others, knowledge, technology and logistics. The discussion panel on telecommunications cybersecurity confirmed Jakub Syta’s diagnosis – we have the resources and knowledge, but the issue of communication between various entities still needs to be fine-tuned.
Meanwhile, even smaller companies and institutions will be able to benefit from the expertise of partners who are more experienced in terms of cybersecurity. This is reflected in Exatel’s portfolio, which was presented at the conference by Mariusz Rybicki.
