Cybersecurity is important in the context of proper State functioning, but will soon become – strictly speaking – critical. Fortunately, intelligent cyberdefence deployment does not have to be as costly as modernizing the state’s regular armed forces. Moreover, Poland has the luxury of having the greatest capital in the ICT world – outstanding professionals.

Strategic planning should enable developing technologies that remain in the country and contribute to its technological potential. For now, there is still much to do in this field.

Numerous paradigms in the world of security policy are changing dramatically quickly. Cybersovereignty is becoming an extremely important element of State independence and the safety of its citizenry. However, we have all the elements required to create a Polish cybersecurity system. The cost structure of its development is entirely different than that in the case of conventional forces. We already have many of the highly significant components. Namely, we have the talent and knowledge.

Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski, president of EXATEL, clearly defines the problem: It’s about knowledge management. Successful activities within the cyberspace depend on whether we are more efficient and faster in doing than others. Based on domestic capital, we are able to finance cyberdefence mechanisms. What we need is to start sorting out the chaos, muster up and be a little consistent.

In an interview with Interia, Nikodem Bończa Tomaszewski addressed numerous issues regarding Polish cybersecurity. Therefore, the challenges are within our reach. After clearing up the prevailing mess, developing legal mechanisms and procedures, it will be possible to create a fully functioning, Polish cybersecurity system. Moreover, ready-made solutions can be globalized.
