EXATEL implemented the TechSystem SDN for the largest operator in Taiwan
Exactly one year after the EXATEL Telco Summit conference, during which the Polish operator presented its proprietary TechSystem SDN, the company returns with a commercial implementation at the largest Taiwanese telecommunications company – Chunghwa Telecom.
Last year, EXATEL conducted the largest successful implementation of a disaggregated and Software-Defined Network (SDN) transmission network on its own network in Europe. This technological leap by the Polish telecommunications operator interested Chunghwa Telecom so much that they decided to implement the TechSystem SDN on their network.
Today, the official world premiere of the TechSystem SDN takes place at the Kaohsiung New Bay Area (Yawan) 5G AIoT Innovation Hub in Taiwan.
The implementation was divided into two stages:
Stage 1: building the TechSystem SDN test environment in the CHT lab in Taipei and conducting a series of intensive tests.
Stage 2: launching the TechSystem SDN production environment “in the field” in Kaohsiung (the second-largest city in Taiwan), which serves as a network for the B2B service (provided on a commercial basis) for one of Chunghwa Telecom’s key clients. Chunghwa Telecom uses the TechSystem SDN in production as the “underlying network for the 5G solution, which will be provided to the client at one of the specified locations.”
The TechSystem SDN is characterized by:
- separation of the control plane (which makes decisions) from the data plane (which executes these decisions),
- deep software integration, and thus ease of modification and openness.
Thanks to software integration and the separation of the control layer from the transport layer, the SDN technology will revolutionize the telecommunications market and the very way of constructing cyberspace through:
- Significantly simplifying network management methodology,
- Freeing the network from vendor lock-in with traditional suppliers,
- Building trust based on the transparency and openness of the technology,
- Allowing users to develop the technology independently,
- Offering extreme flexibility in developing new functionalities,
- Easy integration with AI,
- Easy integration with quantum encryption technologies,
- Easy development of “eco” functionalities through the ability to precisely regulate network energy consumption.
EXATEL thus begins the commercialization of the TechSystem SDN and offers it to its clients, including the uniformed services and critical infrastructure sectors, telecommunications operators, and IT integrators.
The implementation of the TechSystem SDN on the network of such a discerning client as Chunghwa Telecom is another confirmation of the quality of Polish technology. The premiere in Taiwan will facilitate EXATEL’s expansion into Asian markets.
